A Canadian Formal Wear | How To Rock The Canadian Tuxedo.
Who would have thought that when Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake walked on the red carpet in their all denim attire in the early 2000s that we wouldn’t have gouged our eyes out but instead embraced denim full on or should I say we have rocked the Canadian tuxedo even more.
Let’s face it Jeans are not going anywhere, it is always going to be one of the most versatile pieces of clothing in your closet. If you are on a budget and you are planning on building your wardrobe I suggest considering a denim trouser at the top of your list.
The Canadian Tuxedo is a full ensemble of denim from head to toe on your body. I wonder why its called “The Canadian Tuxedo” ?. I digress, Full on denim #OOTD is not the most attractive looks around as you can see from Britney spears and JT but all is not lost, because it is possible to make this look chic and clean.
The first thing that really matters in pulling off any outfit you put on is the fit. Fit is king and key in outfits. Obviously, there are situations when you’re going for a particular look and wearing a different size of jeans works best with that look. This is very understandable but the outfit still needs to be styled properly to make a statement. The key to a really good dapper look is wearing the correct fit of jeans. Jean trousers come in different design and style. The most common ones are
- Skinny Jeans
- Slim Fit Jeans
- Straight Jeans
- Relaxed Fit Jeans
- Loose Fit Jeans
The fit you buy is determined by your body type. Always know you can still look fabulous with anybody type you just have to get the right size.
As for the legendary Jean jackets, you just need to get the one that fits best with you. I will advise to go to the store and try them on. But if you know your sizes there are incredible online stores. Also, make sure to go to a tailor to help get your jeans fitted well if you can’t find the perfect fit.
Another very important criteria for an elegant Canadian tuxedo look is matching the pieces properly. You do not have to wear all denim, you can substitute the denim shirt for a regular T-shirt and so on. But one crucial aspect of styling an outfit is the colours you match. The easiest way to become your own guru at matching is to wear the same colour of denim or match a bold colour denim jacket lets say orange or there I say pink with a pair of black denim trousers.
For my outfit, I chose the easy route for no specific reason. Combining both blue denim jacket and trouser, making it look less bulky with a blue button shirt and burgundy oxford boots just for a touch of colour so it’s not too monochromic.
One thing to look out for is to try to make your outfit look less bulky by tweaking some pieces of your outfit. Put a spin on it, show your personality, your stance. After all, fashion is all about expression ?
My Final Piece of advice is to buy quality denim, in order to Last long and will drape well on your body to give you that classy chic look.
